About the Pramberger Platinum Edition
The Pramberger Platinum Edition was developed as Young Chang’s premium piano line with design and specifications overseen by Joseph Pramberger, a respected piano designer and engineer who previously worked for Steinway & Sons in New York.
These Korean-built Platinum Edition instruments incorporated quality components, including German-made parts, and were designed to compete at a higher level than Young Chang’s standard piano offerings.
Although this particular Young Chang-built J.P. Pramberger Platinum Edition is no longer produced (Samick took over production of the Pramberger pianos in 2003), a comparable new grand piano of this size and quality can easily carry a price of $37,000 or more in today’s market. Add a modern player piano system comparable to the QRS system installed in this piano, and the cost can increase by another $8,000 to $12,000 or more, depending on the system and installation.
That makes this JP-185 an especially interesting opportunity for someone who would like a substantial 6’1″ grand piano with a beautiful tone, attractive Polished Brown Mahogany finish, and the added enjoyment of a player system—at a fraction of what a similarly equipped new piano could cost today.
