This particular RX3-IT was originally manufactured with an upgraded Ciresa Soundboard, which added $3000 to the original cost of this piano (which is why the model is called RX3-IT). The Ciresa soundboard offers superior tonality for high end acoustic grand pianos. If the Ciresa soundboard is considered the optimal best wood to be used as a soundboard and is used in many different brands of the most expensive made in the world today. Why didn’t all Kawai RX3’s include the Ciresa soundboard? The answer is simple: Conservation…because of the limited resource the Italian government puts limits the amount trees that can be harvested each year. The Kawai RX-3 Conservatory Grand has been extremely popular in the piano teaching community since the day the RX Series line of grand pianos was first introduced in 1995.
