Jared Farney is a Canadian drummer, currently residing in Austin, Texas. Jared started his journey in music at age 8 when his uncle gave him his first drum set. He started by playing in marching bands and drum corps as well as local rock and jazz bands. In 2006 and 2007, he was a member of the world renowned Drum and Bugle Corps, the Santa Clara Vanguard in Santa Clara, California. During which time he became a member of the Vic Firth Education team and attended Grant MacEwan University in Edmonton AB, Canada, where he studied under Brian Thurgood and Sandro Dominelli.

In 2008, Jared transferred to St. Francis Xavier University where he completed his bachelors degree in music and studied with Terry O’Mahoney. During this time he was a TA for small group jazz combos and performed with many visiting artists such as Sonny Wilkinson, Tim Haggins, Ryan Davidson, David Braid, and Josh Hanlon. Jared also performed with Nova Scotia musicians Paul Tynan, Breagh Mackinnon, Molly Tomason and Kevin Brunkhorst. Jared completed his masters degree in Jazz Studies from the University of North Texas, where he studied under jazz legend Ed Soph.
